Upholstery fabric seats are very practical, aesthetic and durable, but they have one big disadvantage: they get dirty quickly. Juice stains, oil stains, grease and dirt various other – certainly know what we are talking.
Vacuum the upholstery
You’re probably wondering why you should do that. Well, you have to do this to remove some of the dust and dirt accumulated inside the upholstery. If skip this step, the dirt inside would gather on the surface, making it difficult for your work. So carefully vacuum the upholstery seat.
After you have vacuumed the textile surface, moisten it slightly with warm water. You can use a spray bottle filled with water, so you can distribute it uniformly.
Sprinkle baking soda on upholstery
The next step is strewing a small amount of baking soda on the surface of upholstery. With your fingers, gently rub the dust, to hasten its effect. Basically, bicarbonate does not clean the fabric, but absorbs some of the dirt and helps to wash it easier.
Upholstery clean with vinegar and dish soap
In a bowl, mix half a cup of vinegar and half a cup of water with 1-2 tablespoons of dishwashing detergent. The detergent will dissolve the dirt impregnated on fabric. If you think your seats will have a strong smell of vinegar, you should know that it will disappear very quickly. Moreover, it annihilates the odors from upholstery.
Wash upholstery with a piece of curtain
If you have a curtain around the house that you do not use anymore, here you’ve found a use. This fabric produces a large amount of foam in contact with water. So, soak a piece of curtain in the mixture and gently rub all upholstery. Insist on areas with persistent dirt. We recommend you not to rub aggressively in order not to damage it. Remove the excess foam with a clean cloth.
After you finish washing the seats, prepare a bowl with clean, lukewarm. Soak a clean cloth in water and gently wipe each chair, to remove the detergent impregnated into the fabric. It is better to let the chairs to dry naturally at room temperature. This process may take more or less, depending on the thickness of the upholstery. If you can, take the chairs outside to dry in the sun. If the upholstery seat is made of fine materials, it is advisable to avoid using sodium bicarbonate and reduce the amount of vinegar. If you can, test the solution on a hidden area. Because the kitchen seats get dirty quickly, we recommend you to protect them with covers. You can find plenty covers with different prints, and you can use as decorative elements.
