I needed a body cream and, as I was having too much shea butter, I searched for a recipe that would contain this powerfully moisturizing compound. The disadvantage of shea butter is that during summertime it is very creamy and oily and it has to be very well massaged, so that the skin to absorb it entirely and not leave stains on clothes. From this reason, I avoided using it in summer.
Meanwhile, I found on internet a recipe of scrub with shea butter which sounds promiscuous, being a product that should be used while taking a shower. So, here is the recipe:
- approximately 70 gr of shea butter
- 2 spoons of almond oil
- about 5 drops of vitamin E
- a spoon full of corn starch
- 5-6 drops of essential oil of rosewood
- 1 spoon of coconut flakes
- 1-2 spoons of lavender flowers
I heated a little bit on steam bath the butter, it to become easier to whip. I added one by one the rest of ingredients and mixed them very well. Then, I poured the mixture in a jar and put it in the fridge. At this stage it was foamy and very fragrant. Take the jar with you every time you are going to take a shower or a bath. Also, if it is not too warm in your house (not more than 25 degrees Celsius), you can leave it at room temperature, as it will keep its creamy consistency.
While taking a shower, apply some scrub on a luffa, or on any other type of sponge. After this, rub the scrub all over your body slowly, in circular motions. I would recommend you to use the body scrub just for body, and not for neck and face. These areas are too soft and require another sort of exfoliation.
Shea butter is known for its huge quantity of vitamin A, which is very useful especially for dry skin. Also, it is a wonderful healer for skin disorders like eczema, dermatitis, insect bites, sunburns, frostbites, etc. The vitamins A and E from this type of butter protect the skin from environmental damage.
The corn starches accomplish the function of exfoliation.
The immeasurable fragrance is all about lavender. This ingredient is used more for relaxation of skin and nerves. Take a shower and use the upper described scrub before going to bed, as it helps in having a relaxed, deep sleep.
Girls, this scrub is a gift for your skin! You absolutely should try it! This body scrub can be easily compared with any other luxurious, expensive body product.
